Week 71--Oct 14, 2019

When Conference comes to town

Hey FamBam!
We got to watch conference this week! It was so good! I'm going to have to read a lot of it over again though to catch the parts I didn't understand in Chinese but all the visuals helped a lot! 😅 (I learned how to say skunk! haha)

Sorry I dont have much time this week but a highlight was a new friend we started teaching Iris that we found on the street playing Pokemon Go last week 🤣 She said a prayer at the end of our lesson and thanked God that she has felt a little happier this week, she's not sure why, but she just felt a little happier this week (yes!), and she also said to our member present after the lesson when we were chatting that she's normally a very quiet person but for some reason when she talks to us, she has a lot to say! I love that. And I love her.
Also, yesterday was the first time I've had someone threaten to call the cops on us and I've been a missionary for over a year! We are so blessed ❤

Hope you all have a great week!
Love you!

Week 70--Oct. 7, 2019

Exposed! 😳

Hey fambam!

Funny story: because sister smith was going home this week we had a few friends that wanted to feed us her last days in Taiwan and so Tues and wednesday we had appts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (lol all we do is eat, eat, eat no matter what jk) but there was a recent convert that insisted on feeding us Wednesday so we gave up and just scheduled two lunches 😆😅 and planned on eating only salad at the first, but through a series of unfortunate events the friend from the first lunch drove us to the recent converts house and she was waiting outside and chatted for a second with our friend and then invited the friend to eat with us! 🤣 and our friend was like "wait, what? we just ate..." haha we died... so exposed. 後來we laughed it off and all went to the restaurant and literally the worker there was the friend from our BREAKFAST appt! oh my goodness. Dead. The odds. It was a super interesting day. haha so yeah.

My new companion is Sister Concardas! She is from the Philippines and if honey was a person, it would look/sound a lot like her! She is such an angel, so sweet and pure and full of faith. She motivates me to be a better missionary every day just because of who she is. She tells everyone Jesus loves you! Even if they ignore us. Simple but pure truth.

Don't forget that Jesus loves you!

I love you all so much!
What can I pray for you for?
Have a fantastic week!

Week 69--Sept. 30, 2019

Typhoon part 7

Hey Fam!
So today we were supposed to have another typhoon but the rain and wind were pretty mild as usual Haha

This week was full of baptism prep for Jacky, farewell parties and visits for Sister Smith, and exchanges with some sisters before the transfer ends!

This week we got to witness 6 people receive the gift of the Holy Ghost is sacrament meeting and then the cutest primary program ever! Also, prayers are answered people because we forgot our rain jacket thingys 雨衣 but we said a prayer both on the way to the chapel and back and both times the rain just lightened up and then paused for us to get where we needed to go!
I also must say, I am so grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost and for the sacrament that reminds us of our baptismal covenants and the promise of always having the Spirit with us. Sometimes it's really hard to tell if a feeling is the Spirit or not, but as we do our best to seek it through prayer, the Lord won't let us go wrong. On Sunday night we planned to go to a far part of our area we have never been before to look for a less active recent convert but I kept having this nervous feeling about it. I wasn't sure if it was the spirit or just me being nervous going to this new area, but I said a prayer to try to figure it out and had a very subtle, but peaceful feeling. I decided I must just be nervous because we've never been there before, etc. and we got on the bus and went. Turns out we met the returning member just as he got home and got to meet him and talk about baptism and what the Spirit feels like. Also turns out he is moving a lot closer to the chapel in December and we offered to help (and hopefully meet his wife and daughter)! Glad the long travel ended up worth it and we caught the last bus back home.

Love you all!
Have a great week!

Week 68-Sept. 23, 2019

Saunas and Sleeping

HEY fam!
This week was absolutely amazing ~ it's kinda funny I feel like every time we have a super blessed week- it's pouring rain so I wanna title my email its raining blessings but then I feel like I've already done that before Haha I can't remember.
Anyways, this week it COOLED off like crazy like it's all of a sudden winter! And it rained most of the week! But the best part was the 林 family's baptism on Saturday! The kids are hilarious and all said really funny things in their testimonies or didn't want to say anything at all. And the font was super warm~ it created a bunch of steam so it looked like a sauna of a baptismal font. The next day Bishop drove them all to Stake Conference in Taipei and they sat right behind us. About halfway through I turned around to see Dad and Michael just knocked out and Tiffany listening to music and Mom saw me see them and we both just started laughing. It was a really happy moment ❤😊
I am so grateful for the way the gospel can truly turn families around for the better. We all have our weaknesses and our faults, but the gospel brings out the beautiful parts of our relationships and makes us so much better than we are on our own. After the baptism, 林姐妹 mom said to us "time for the next step!" as in going to the temple to be sealed for eternity. I love this family with all my heart and am so grateful to have met them and see how far they have come because of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We also had our friends Jacky and Cindy pass their baptismal interviews this week~ look forward to more pictures! 😊

Love you all so much!
