Week 41- March 18, 2019

Hey fambam!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to call everyone this week, we went to the zoo again with a Siyuan recent convert, her friend and some other missionaries that taught her. I'll attach some pics! :)

This week has been full of learning! I definitely have been feeling a little more stressed due to a greater sense of responsibility, but I trust that the Lord doesn't give us challenges we can't handle or that won't turn out for our good! There is so much I still have to learn and as we come unto Christ, He shows us our weaknesses, but His grace is sufficient if we put our trust in Him. ❤
A highlight of this week was Sister Yen gave away her first Book of Mormon to someone on the street! It has been super fun to watch her be so excited about missionary work and she is already such a fantastic, loving, independent missionary!
Also, President challenged us to have 20 gospel conversations a day and it has been thrilling to try and accomplish this gospel through urgency and more direct contacts searching out the elect!

Scripture of the week:
Jacob 6:12 "O be wise; what can I say more?"  Yep.

Just kidding! 😁
This week's scripture is probably one I have used before but it's awesome so...
1 nephi 3:7 "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them."

Have a fantastic week!
Love you all!

Week 40-March 11, 2019

Siyuan and Sister Yen! 🌇

Dear fam and friends,
What a week! Full of learning and growth and goals! This week I moved to Siyuan to finish training the sweetest little Taiwanese missionary, Sister Yen. She is from the southern part of Taiwan and is such a sincere, happy, social missionary! She has really helped me practice my Chinese 24/7 though her English is incredible! It was sad leaving all of the dear friends I made in Songshan and all the awesome members there, but I am so excited to make Siyuan my new home and family! The ward here is much smaller than Songshan, but just as full of love! We got to give talks in church on Sunday, so I got a chance to introduce myself, talk about faith as compared to a seed in Alma and bear my testimony that Christ lives and knows each of us. Although my Chinese is still very limited, I felt the Spirit testifying of the truthfulness of what I was saying and that's what's most important.
Siyuan is even more city than Songshan! The buildings are all high rises, and the traffic is, well, thrilling! 😆 Our area isn't too big and is nicely mapped so I have been able to start understanding where we are most of the time.

A scripture we shared with a member this week is 3 Nephi 17:10. "And they did all, both they who had been healed and they who were whole, bow down at his feet, and did worship him; and as many as could come for the multitude did kiss his feet, insomuch that they did bathe his feet with their tears." It reminded me how powerful the Atonement of Christ is and regardless of whether or not we feel whole or are in significant need of healing, through Jesus Christ's sacrifice, we can feel immeasurable joy and gratitude to bring us to tears. I am so grateful for my Savior and for the strength His love has given me this past week.
This morning as we were biking home from the grocery store, a taxi driver rolled down his window and yelled "Hello! Yesu ai ni!" or Jesus loves you! Even though he was chewing binlang (tobacco type drug) and is usually someone we wouldn't try to talk to 😆, it was a nice reminder that Jesus does love us and He loves and knows you. Don't forget that beautiful truth!

Love you all! Keep pressing forward and have an AMAZING week!
Sending hugs and prayers!

Week 38-Feb. 25, 2019

Raining Miracles! 💦

Hey fam and friends!
This week we saw so many amazing miracles!!! The first was English class! It was one of those weeks when I hadnt finished planning the class and was unsure about what to share for the spiritual part at the end, but I said a little prayer in my heart and thought of my awesome companion and what she likes to do for English class and so I ended up playing a video called "Abide with Me" and then we sang the hymn together in Chinese so they could better understand the meaning and they shared some really awesome thoughts. After class, I asked a new student what she thought of class, and she basically said "I have some questions about your church. I've been having a lot of family struggles recently and I like the peaceful feeling I get here." I was shocked! She set up a time to meet with us Friday and then came to church with us Sunday! She is super sweet and I am so excited to keep sharing the beautiful truths of the gospel with her like the eternal nature of families and God's plan for each of His children!
My companion also met an awesome English class student who came to church with us as well! She is super fun and bright and I can't wait to get to know her better!
This Sunday after church, a cute 9 year old in our ward got baptized, so both of our new friends got to see it and feel the happy, peaceful feeling of the Spirit!
Another miracle from this week was getting to Skype my family! Talking to them always makes me feel so happy, the rest of the day I sing "I'm walking on sunshine!" 😊 I love them so much!

I know God hears and answers our prayers and I know that families are forever!
One of my favorite verses is Nephi quoting Isaiah in 2 nephi 22:2
"Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation." I feel like this week this verse has really come to pass. As we are patient and diligent, the Lord will bless us with miracles and become our strength and our song!
Invite this week: Look for a special tender mercy, miracle, or answer to prayers from the Lord! ☀

Love you all so much!
Sending hugs and prayers!
